Top Biscuit Brands in India

Here’s your rundown on the top 10 best biscuit brands in 2024 to delight tastebuds and boost health.

Biscuits are a tasty reminder that the simplest pleasures in life are readily available.

As a snack, with tea or coffee, or as a breakfast side – these delightful treats adapt to any culinary setting. Whether it’s the simplicity of a plain biscuit or the artistry of a cookie, biscuits delight tastebuds, quell hunger, and create experiences.

Unsurprisingly, biscuits come across as the most consumed products globally.

According to IMARC Group’s findings, the global biscuits market was USD 117.5 Billion in 2022, projected to touch USD 159.2 Billion by 2028, with a 4.9% CAGR. As the report further states, Europe is the largest market and Latin America is the fastest-growing.

The numbers are impressive in India too.

As Blue Weave Consulting tells us, India’s biscuit market was USD 3.19 billion in 2022 and is set to grow at a 4.13% CAGR, reaching USD 4.078 billion by 2029.

8. Parle G: Best Glucose Biscuit Brand

  • Launched: 1939
  • Parent: Parle
  • Market Share

For generations, Parle G has been synonymous with biscuits. The sight of the yellowish packet with a cute girl takes us back to childhood, evoking fond memories. Though the wax paper wrapper gave way to plastic wrapping, the iconic design stayed intact. And, the girl gracing the packet is said to be celebrated author Sudha Murty

Launched as Parlez Gluco in 1939, it is the world’s best-selling biscuit, ahead of Oreo and other top biscuit brands, according to Nielsen Survey 2011. Available in 6 million+ retail stores across India, Parle G was the 42nd most trusted brand in 2014, according to Brand Trust.

Parle G’s soft crunch soon gives way to a caramel flavor that delights tastebuds and leaves a profound aftertaste. Its comforting, mildly sweet flavor appeals to virtually all palates. Plus, it is nutrient-rich and delivers an instant energy boost.

Despite providing a satisfying crunch, they break easily and melt in the mouth pretty quickly. The fragrance is also impressive, starting with hints of vanilla and concluding with a milky aroma.

Ramawwa from Belagavi, Karnataka, had never eaten anything other than Parle G in 16 years of her life. Even her first taste at birth was not her mother’s milk but Parle-G and cow milk. That’s how addictive the biscuit can be. (Source: India Today)

  • High Sugar Content (25g)
  • Lacks versatility

PARLE-G is the best product amongst all the Biscuits. I have been eating it since my childhood. Now my child loves it the most, in terms of PARLE-G GOLD. This is a priceless product, though it is cheaper than all other products in the market. Truly satisfied!

10 Patanjali Doodh Biscuits: Best Milk Biscuit Brand

  • Launched
  • Parent: Patanjali
  • Market Share: 13.6%

With a 13.6% market share and Rs 249 crore in sales, Patanjali Dhoodh Biscuits edged out Horlicks Biscuits (11.5% market share) to emerge as the second-best milk biscuit brand after Britannia Milk Bikis.

In Worldlywiser testing, Dhoodh Biscuits fared better than Milk Bikis in taste and health. While refined wheat flour (maida) is the prime ingredient in Milk Bikis, Dhoodh Biscuits are made of wheat flour and cow’s milk, and enriched with dietary fibers and clarified butter. As a side note, maida offers more calories but lacks much nutritional value.

The absence of cholesterol or transfat also makes it a relatively healthier option. When it comes to taste and texture, the biscuit strikes a delicate balance of sweetness and a subtle milky and malty flavor. It is light, crispy, and crumbly, and retains the shape until saliva triggers into action.

As a side note, Patanjali is one of the top contract farming companies in India and owns one of the top noodle brands, rice brands, atta brands, and more.

  • Overly sweet (22%)
  • Low shelf life (6 months)
